The world would be better off if information claimed no value. The world would heal if possessing information held no worth. Information exists to be shared.
The joy of sharing is the reward—not the information itself. Joy as motivation to pass on knowledge, without expecting anything in return. Because information is worthless. Worthless, because it belongs to us all. And something that belongs to everyone is already in everyone’s possession.
We learn to speak and think: we are something special. We learned to speak and think because information was free.
We learned to touch, walk, run, and see. We learned all of these things because the knowledge of touch, walking, and running was freely available. Light fills our eyes without compensation. We learn to see because we receive information without restriction.
What is Value?
Is it a resource that is scarce, unequally distributed, and therefore desirable? But if the information on how to create a resource in any desired amount is freely available, is that resource still scarce?
We believe we know better because information has value for us. We share information only in exchange for something because it seems valuable to us. Sometimes, we don’t want to share information that embarrasses us. What would others think if they knew?
But what would others think if information had no value? Information is worthless, and everyone knows it. So why share or not share—if all information belongs to everyone? Positive or negative, warm or cold. Information is there. And if it exists, it belongs to everyone. Because information is worthless, as it belongs to all.
The joy of sharing information is immense. So immense that we continue to share. A smile, a hug, a word—just like that. Because it brings joy. And all information belongs to everyone. Unencrypted. Barrier-free. Where the receiver is also the sender. Those who can send, send because it brings joy.
Valuable is That Which Brings No Joy
Not sharing information brings no joy. Valuable is something that brings no joy. For the moment of a flash of insight, when new information is born, is the saddest moment—because it is the moment when the information has not yet been shared. Joy arises when information is shared with everyone.
Information that belongs to everyone requires storage systems with equal capacity for all. Because everyone needs equal capacity to store all the information that belongs to everyone.
Everyone has the ability to understand all information because it is freely stored for all.
But which information is more valuable than others? Information that few understand, and most do not. Information that only a few understand is a momentary insight that brings no joy. For joy arises only when all understand and the information is shared with everyone.
And everyone rejoices in the information that everyone understands.
What could be the information that everyone understands, that holds capacity and storage?
Love?
